Wine country of South Africa is stunning, and we began our trip with a stay in the adorable town of Franschhoek, just a quick drive away from the heart South African winemaking - Stellenbosch. Jardine Restaurant in Stellenbosch was a pleasantly surprising stop, and a refreshing meal considering the 35˚C + heat in town. Hussar Grill is a great place for a light dinner to try some local fare including ostrich and springbok. Driving around Jordan Vineyards in a safari jeep was pretty fun, and the Chardonnay reserve was truly a highlight with hints of caramel oaky-ness. Vergelegen is another beautiful estate in wine country with stunning gardens - fields of immaculately maintained flowers and corners of towering hydrangeas at every corner.
