table mountain & ostriches

Table Mountain might be the most iconic spot in Cape Town. It's a flat-topped mountain with a unique array of plants and creatures. The cable car is a speedy system - there is only one going up and down at any given time, and the trip is probably about 5 minutes one way. The views are absolutely stunning. Stopping at an ostrich farm while in South Africa is also a must, and Cape Town Ostrich Ranch is home to Tom, the smallest ostrich in the world.

boulders beach & cape peninsula

Boulders Beach is a sheltered, protected beach along the Cape Peninsula, and is part of Table Mountain National Park and is home to African Penguins. It was molting season while we were there so the penguins weren't looking too sharp, but is worth a trip to see them in their natural habitat. Cape Point was a beautiful sight to behold, and as we explored Cape Point National Park, we found a wild ostrich and an inquisitive little dassie. Wrapping up the day in Kirstenbosh Botanical Gardens, South African flora and fauna is truly unique.
